People often ask me, “Aunty, would you choose to stay in a company that’s comfortable. with a good boss but limited career growth, or jump into a bigger company with better opportunities but working environment is just so-so?”
Honestly, I choose neither.
This may sound cocky to some, but why should I settle?
I want to work in a company that gives me the opportunity to grow, offer good benefits, treats me with respect, and pays me fairly.
I mean, I’ve spent so much of my waking hours at work. I’ve sacrificed a lot for my career. I believe I’ve earned the right to choose what I want. Have you?
Actually, so did Dr. Eric.
At one point in his life, as a medically trained doctor, he spent an hour every night learning how to code and build websites – because he didn’t want to work in the morgue anymore, staring at lifeless bodies day in and day out.
He didn’t sit around waiting for opportunities, he took action to create them.
So, if your career stopped serving you – do something about it. Take one small action. One small step. And another. Anything. You owe it to yourself to building a life that excites you.
