Not every boss who’s “not nice” is a bad person.
Some are burnt out.
Some were trained under poor leadership and taught that kindness doesn’t get results.
Some are just trying to survive in a system that only celebrates KPIs, not compassion.
They don’t always realise that being nice doesn’t mean being soft. But being human, with boundaries, empathy, and firmness when needed.
I used to be that boss. Tough, fast, no nonsense.
But over the years, I realised… people remember how you made them feel more than how fast you chased results.
Let’s be honest… being kind in leadership takes guts too. And practice. And unlearning.
But it’s always worth it.
