Corporate life isn’t always about what’s written in the HR manual.
There are politics and unspoken rules.
Here are few hacks I’ve learned in my 20 years…
💡 1. Build your own army.
Cultivate allies, mentors, and friends across departments. In corporate, networks protect you better than policies.
💡 2. Document everything.
If it’s not in writing, it’s not real. Keep records of conversations, approvals, and commitments. It’s not paranoia, it’s protection.
💡 3. Learn the art of silence.
Not every battle needs your words. Sometimes, silence buys you time and saves you from unnecessary scars.
💡 4. Master emotional poker face.
Smile when they expect you to flinch. Keep your calm when they want you rattled. Control is power.
💡 5. Focus on your currency.
Your skills, your performance, your reputation. No one can take those away if you keep developing your abilities.
💡 6. Hone you sales skills and build relationships
Even if you’re not in sales, you’re always selling, your ideas, your projects, your leadership. Build bridges even before you need them.
💡 7. Exit strategy always on standby.
The most resilient people aren’t the ones who suffer endlessly. They’re the ones who know when to walk away with dignity. Always prepare for the worst.
Play it smart, protect your energy, and remember, you always have choices.
