Someone asked me recently, “Aunty, how do I get better at small talk?”
Well, small talk is not about being talkative, it’s more about being aware.
When we know what’s happening around us like current issues, workplace trends, funny headlines, local news, suddenly conversations become easy.
You always have something to contribute, and people remember you as “that person who’s nice to talk to.”
And yes, I’m an advocate of small talk skills.
It open doors, break awkwardness and most importantly, it builds networks before you even start “networking”, if it makes sense.
