I saw a group of people laughing and having a great time at the hotel bar in Johor Bahru.
I couldn’t help but ask where they were from, because they didn’t look local at all. You would agree!
Turns out they were the executive team from Fresenius Medical Care, from all over APAC, in town for a leadership meeting held right next door to my Employment Act class earlier that day.
(Coincidentally, many years ago, when I was still a recruiter, I actually recruited temp staff for them in the Malaysia office!)
A highlight conversation was when one of them asked what was I doing next door. Apparently, they could hear laughter throughout the day.
I replied, “Well… when you come to AuntyHR’s training, that’s exactly what you should expect! Lots of fun and laughter while learning!”
Their APAC HR Lead, Louise Busuttil, kindly invited me to join their table.
Sitting there brought me back to my better corporate days, when I got to meet colleagues from other countries during regional meetings.
We hit it off instantly, exchanged our IG accounts on the spot, and even shared a plate of fries together.
I do miss that sometimes.
So thank you, Louise, for welcoming this stranger for the night. 🫶
