My husband turns 55 this year.
This year, we also did something brave.
We upgraded my little enterprise into a Sdn Bhd so we can apply to be an HRD Corp Training Provider.
Which also means…
I cannot run my business like a cowboy anymore.
I have now corporatised the crap out of my business, transferring all the useful skills I developed over twenty years in corporate.
To begin, I invested in systems.
CMS to manage my website.
HRMS, even there are just two of us as employees.
Accounting software so that LHDN don’t come after me.
Tbh, tasked as the revenue generator, I don’t have the luxury of time to manage the systems.
So my husband did.
Unlike me, who has years of experience working with fancy systems, this former engineer, who spent decades being good at what he did, is now learning accounting and payroll from scratch.
He even signed up for weekend classes (and yes, the company will invest in his learning too, even though we don’t have HRD Corp funds yet).
At 55, he is starting a new job.
From the beginning.
Retired Engineer to Office Manager cum Driver
(but I still like to refer him as my PA aka the Political Advisor behind AuntyHR).
Gen X had stopped chasing for promotions and began to choose purpose.
