SOCSO has introduced a new benefit called “Elaun Pasca Cuti Bersalin” EPCB, or Post-Maternity Leave Allowance, which provides financial support to mothers after their maternity leave.
This initiative potentially eases the transition for working mothers, whether they choose to extend their leave or return to work, as part of a broader effort to improve female workforce participation.
Would it be crazy if I said this is actually a good national investment?
Let me explain.
When a mother is supported to transition back into the workforce properly, she is in a better space – mentally, emotionally, and financially to raise her child well.
And when a mother stays in the workforce, she contributes to the economy, strengthens her family’s financial stability, and provides her children with better access to opportunities (and we all know… good education is not cheap today).
I honestly believe that, over time, this helps to shape a more resilient next generation.
So think of it as funding our future. Makes sense, riiiiight?
