When something went wrong, it’s always easier to point the finger outward rather than pointing inward.
Even when the fingers are not pointing, it’s still easier to not point the finger towards ourselves.
Not blaming anyone is not the same as admitting fault. Because the latter requires courage.
When an employee makes a mistake and cause the company to lose business, the employer blames the employee for being incompetent and the employee blames the employer for being unsupportive.
Or the employee and employer do not blame one another. Unpredictable circumstances like the pandemic happened perhaps. Or just no luck, we just point our fingers to the universe.
Or we point the finger inward and reflect. As an employee I should had put in more effort & attention on the details. As an employer I should had given better direction & instruction.
I should have been better. And it takes courage to say that.
