Most parts of my adult life, I have built a career in fixing things. That includes being moved from branch to branch and project to project.
Being in the people business for so long, I understand that it’s very important to have the right people in the right place to ensure the success of a project. So whenever I was moved to a new branch/project to fix, the first thing I looked at were the resources assigned to the branch/project i.e. the people.
Within the first week, I’d learn as much as I could of the people. I’d go to HR and pull out all their P-Files & sit there studying their profiles. Then I’d have a conversation with the heads first, followed by the team. All separately. To evaluate the consistency of their stories. Because trust me, when it’s a place with trouble, there will be a lot of stories.
After, I would start cleaning house.
Cards would be laid out. Clarity would be given of each person’s roles & responsibilities. SMART goals would be established & communicated.
And I would wish all of us all the best in exceeding the expectations of the bosses.
Happy weekend everybody! It’s going to be quite a busy one for me for it’s filled with engagement programs. This coming Sunday 27th Nov 2022 from 11.00am to 2.30pm I am going to volunteer at an orphanage to help to raise funds for special needs children.
