Motivation to Move Forth

Like most careers, mine was not a linear one either. There were ups and there were downs. And then, there was a time it went to the plateau.

But whatever the point was, there was always a decision I had to make . It’s either I do something about it or I accept and be at peace with the situation.

And when I do find the strength and courage to do something about it, like most, I need a lot of motivation and these are some of my favourite methods on how I went to seek mine.

1. I focused on my self-growth and personal development. I constantly went to look for new ways to improve myself. I tried new things to enhance my experience, I signed up webinars and even conducted webinars myself.

2. In the process of executing #1, I chose to engage in activities that brings myself joy and fulfillment. Like… I find it fun after I watch a show in Netflix and I would try to apply the lessons I’ve learnt from the show into my real life to see if it worked or it was just all spoof in Hollywood. Because one, time is not always on my side and two, it’s much easier to reframe negative thought patterns to turn them into strengths when you are happy doing something you love. Besides, most of the times, it did worked!

3. When #2 did not work & a mistake was made, I practiced self-compassion and forgiveness. This was probably one of the hardest to do. So that was why I needed #4.

4. I actually hired a therapist to help me through the process.

5. And of course, celebrating small victories! Winning! Oh, I love winning so I set achievable goals and track my progress to build up that accomplishment thrill!

Finding the meaning and purpose in my life to keep on motivating myself to move forth.
