We found the perfect candidate. The right talent at the right price. The hiring manager interviewed the candidate and loved her. But the hiring manager also said, “I want to interview another one. Just to compare.”
Then… we sourced for another candidate to compare and found one. Then… the hiring manager was not free to interview till 3 weeks later.
After the interview with the 2nd candidate, the hiring manager said, “I like the first one, let’s offer that one instead.” Guess what, the first candidate is no longer available already. Hired by another company.
Sigh. I am telling you this true story today because I made the same mistake a few days back.
We found the perfect venue & hotel for our annual dinner. The right place at the right price. Then I said, “Need to recce another site. Just to compare.” Then… I got so busy for the next few weeks managing other projects, I didn’t have the time to recce another site till few days back. Well, you can guess the rest of the story. I want to book the first venue and it’s no longer available.
Sigh. I am back to square one.
Anyways, if you know any 5-star hotel that has 300++ rooms within RM400 per night with breakfast for 2 on 17th March 2023 and the grand ballroom is also available at the same night. Please do let me know personally. I will not make the same mistake of the hiring manager again.
Moral of the stories is learnt: When you had found the right one, ONE is enough.
