This is another memorable Olympic moment that I remember watching on telly. Nur Dhabitah Sabri, our young national diver who managed to finish 9th place in the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics for the 10m diving event. This image was taken right after her 3rd dive attempt. It was quite a terrible dive for Olympics standard actually. She didn’t manage to straighten her legs before she hit the waters it seemed.
I watched her getting out from the pool & she walked towards her coach. She smiled coyishly, stuck out her tongue, then frowned a little like wanna cry. But when she reached her coach, she gave this wide smile and the coach returned with a high five. I fondly remembered the sports commentator was a lady and she said something along the line, despite that terrible dive, Dhabitah is still all smiles and commended her on her good sportsmanship.
This moment for me was so heartwarming & uplifting. Sometimes when we fail, we can be so hard on ourselves. But no matter how hard it is, important is to bounce back. With a smile no less =)
Nur Dhabitah is back to the 3m springboard this Friday, July 30th at the Tokyo Olympics. Wishing her all the best!
