When applying for a job, it can be tempting to oversell our skills and abilities to make ourselves look attractive to the potential employer.
However, we need to be real about our strengths and weaknesses to ensure we are a good fit ultimately and not to underdeliver our promises.
When dealing with customers, it can be tempting to tell them what they want to hear to win the sales over.
However, we need to be real about what we can and cannot do to establish a reputation for integrity and professionalism.
When mistakes are being made, it can be tempting to sweep them under the carpet to avoid us looking bad in front of other colleagues & bosses.
However, we need to be real about the fact paper can never wrap fire and the truth will come out eventually. On the contrary, by taking responsibility & showing a willingness to learn from our mistakes, we can actually earn ourselves the respect.
The upward trend now is all about being real and authentic even when it’s not pretty. Don’t pretend someone we’re not to fit in. Be true to ourselves & values even if it means that we may not be popular with others.
Embrace who you are and live your truth. You do you!
