As someone with two decades of experience in hiring, I’ve often heard complaints about fresh graduates – their English skills aren’t up to par, they struggle with basic interview questions, and overall communication leaves room for improvement. Yes, our education system isn’t flawless and needs some refining.
But let’s pause for a moment and consider the other side of the coin. Fresh graduates are, after all, a pool of untapped potential, a blank canvas ready to be shaped.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to hire and mentor numerous fresh graduates. Yes, they needed guidance and some skills sharpening, but once equipped with the right training and coaching, their transformation was nothing short of astonishing. They’re quick learners, intelligent, and brimming with potential.
What makes them even more appealing is their digital nativity – they can bring fresh perspectives to your projects and are well-versed with the latest trends. Tech-savvy and adaptable, they fit perfectly in our rapidly evolving digital landscape.
Remember, it does take two to tango. While we as leaders provide the guidance, these young talents need to be proactive, eager to learn, and ready to make their mark.
So, here’s my message – don’t overlook our fresh graduates. If they are willing to learn, let’s be willing to teach. Who knows? You might just be sitting on an untapped goldmine, ready to yield its treasure with a bit of nurturing =D
After all, every seasoned professional was once a greenhorn who didn’t give up.
