Job Hacks Day 4: Interview Insights

Hack #1: The Model-Perfect Posture

A model’s posture can make a significant difference in how we’re perceived. It demonstrates attentiveness, confidence and engagement. Plus, maintaining a good posture can boost our own feelings of confidence and readiness.

Tips: Push our shoulders slightly back, this naturally pulls our spine into alignment. Ensure they’re relaxed and not stiff. Tension in the shoulders can make us appear anxious.

Hack #2: The Compliment Sandwich

This approach is most effective when discussing challenges or weaknesses. It’s a positive way to address challenges without coming off as negative. By sandwiching challenges or gaps between two positive statements, we can make them seem less impactful and highlight how we’ve grown from them.

How to do it: Start with something positive about the company or position (the first slice of bread), address the challenge or weakness we want to discuss (the filling), and conclude with another another positive note (the second slice of bread).

Example: “I’ve always admired CCN Company for its innovation. However, I felt the recent marketing campaign didn’t fully resonate with younger demographics. Nonetheless, I believe with the company’s creativity, there’s a huge potential to bridge the gap.”

Hack #3: The Mindset Shift

We’re interviewing them too! Understanding that we’re also evaluating the company’s suitability for us can help ease anxiety. The perspective shifts the interaction from a one-sided assessment to a mutual compatibility check.

Tip: Prepare questions that dig deeper into the company culture, team dynamics or challenges they encounter. Like… “Do teams engage in regular team-building activities or off-sites?” or “Considering the role I’m applying for, what challenges has the team faced recently?”

Remember, interviews aren’t just about getting the job, but an opportunity for both parties to see if it’s a good fit. Believe in yourself and let your passion shine through. Every “no” brings us one step closer to that “yes” we’re aiming for.

Keep putting our best foot forward, always!
