These past few days, I had the privilege of watching the young talents in action during the 2023 MSSM Golf Championship. My kiddo was one of the 18 golf athletes representing Sabah. It was a unique experience watching kids from all corners over of the country come together, many meeting each other for the first time.
One particular moment caught my attention. My kid, Sheldon, approached a contestant from Sarawak, he didn’t start the conversation with the typical, “Hello, my name is Sheldon. What is yours?” Instead he said, “Hello, what language do you speak?”
It just struck me how simple these kids can be, transcending boundaries through curiosity and openness. It made me reflect on how as adults, we could learn from their unprejudiced approach to meeting new people. In their world, differences are not obstacles, they’re opportunities to connect, understand, and bridge gaps.
Sometimes, it’s the most straightforward questions lead to the most meaningful connections.
Oh… if you’re wondering how Sheldon did in his first national golf tournament, I couldn’t be prouder. He placed 4th in the team event =D
