I often come across the comment that HR is hired to side with the company and not the employees. While it’s true that companies are primarily established to thrive and make a profit, over the years, I’ve learned that the true determinants of a company’s success are its people.
You see, companies entrust HR with the responsibility of taking care of the organisation’s interests, but to truly side with the company, HR must prioritise taking care of its people. It’s like what Jerry Maguire famously said, “Help me, help you.” That’s a principle I’ve consistently advocated.
Be fair to the employee. Be fair to the employer. And remember, the employee always comes first.
The growth of the company is intricately tied to the growth of its people. Without the company’s expansion, there won’t be ample room for our individual growth. Company growth and employee growth are often inseparable, and effective workforce management plays a pivotal role in achieving this balance.
It all begins with hiring the right people and extends to creating a workplace where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. HR is tasked with ensuring compliance with labor laws while recognizing that the success of a company isn’t measured solely in profits, but in the growth and satisfaction of its workforce. If it makes sense.
