In the latest amendment to Employment Act 1955, which took effect 1st Jan 2023, a new section 81H was introduced: “An employer shall, at all times, exhibit conspicuously at the place of employment, a notice to raise awareness on sexual harassment.”
Here are some effective ways to display this notice:
Common Areas: Place the notice in high-traffic common areas such as the lobby, cafeteria, break rooms, hallways, entrance, and exit points of the premises. Ensure it is at eye level and easily visible to all employees and visitors.
Bulletin Boards: Utilise bulletin boards which are common in workplaces to post the notice. Ensure it is in a prominent position on the board.
Digital Displays: If your workplace has digital screens for announcements, use these to display the notice in rotation with other messages.
Intranet or Employee Portals: Make the notice accessible on your company’s intranet or employee portal. Include a link to it in email signatures or on the homepage for easy access.
Internal Communication: Share the notice through internal communication channels such as company newsletters, emails, or workplace apps.
New Employee Onboarding: Include the notice as part of the onboarding process for new employees, emphasizing its significance in your workplace culture.
Remember that the goal is to ensure that every employee is aware of the policy and knows how to report sexual harassment if they experience or witness it. Regularly reviewing and updating the notice and its placement can help maintain its visibility and effectiveness in raising awareness.
I have also included a sample of the Sexual Harassment Notice and Policy in this post and left it to be editable so you can download it and use them. No charge =D
