Reserve Work WhatsApp Messages for Workdays Only

A follower asked me to share this video on LinkedIn, and I think it makes total sense. While we’re on the topic, many netizens shared great tips on managing weekend work messages. Why not share them here so we all learn together how to foster better workforce harmony at the workplace.

For Bosses:

  • Email Ourselves. This trick work wonders, and I normally just type in the subject box. Works well if you’re diligent about reading and clearing emails on workdays daily, it’s a great reminder. Let’s admin it, we’re sometimes just too attached to our emails.
  • Delayed Emails. Email your staff and set the message for delayed delivery, ensuring it’s sent on a working day. While doing this, you can also copy yourself as a reminder for a follow-up discussion. Can’t wait the day WhatsApp introduces this feature too!

For Staff:

  • Mute Notifications. Turn off notifications for work-related WhatsApp groups on weekends.
  • Archive Groups. Archive work-related chat groups on weekends – but remember to unarchive them on workdays!
  • Create a ‘Reminder Chat Group’. Just between you and your boss, with a clear understanding that this group is monitored during working hours only.

P.S. I know some of you also use the ‘Message Yourself’ feature in WhatsApp to transfer pictures and files between your phone and laptop, right?
