I have been asked this quite a lot lately, because when it comes to public holidays, it’s a serious business in Malaysia hehe… “What happens when twp public holidays coincide? Do we get a replacement holiday on the following day.”
Yes, we do. The clause to refer to in the Employment Act 1955 is Section 60D(1), which states if any public holiday falls on any other public holiday, the working day following immediately the other public holiday shall be a paid holiday in substitution of the first mentioned public holiday.

22 May, 2024: Hari Hol Pahang (only applicable to Pahang) & Wesak Day
7 Jul, 2024: Georgetown World Heritage City Day (only applicable to Penang) & Awal Muharram
16 Sep, 2024: Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday & Malaysia Day
