Probationer’s Entitlement

Many have asked me, “Is it true that as a probationer, we are not entitled to any annual leave or sick leave and that statutory contributions like EPF, SOCSO and EIS only apply upon confirmation?”

Horse sh*t.

In fact, in the Employment Act 1955, the Employees’ Social Security Act 1969 and the EPF Act 1991 don’t even have the word ‘probationer’. Whether we are probationers or confirmed employees, permanent or contract, we are protected by the same laws.

So, if your HR personnel tells you otherwise, that’s a major red flag. HR ini confirm tidak boleh pakai.
