I’m an engineering graduate with no formal HR education, yet today, I’m a celebrated HR influencer in Malaysia. Reflecting on some of the most successful people I’ve worked with in the HR field, I’ve noticed that many of us come from a diverse educational backgrounds – from IT and marketing to media and even medicine.
There’s something inherently addictive about HR that draws diverse professionals to it. I believe it’s the high demand for problem-solving skills – a perfect fit for engineers like me, who are always curious about how things work and how to improve them.
The knowledge we learn in school is transferable to any career we choose to pursue. Similarly, the experience gained in one industry can transition to another. Hold onto our knowledge and experience. They’re our tickets to switching careers successfully!
