I recently heard something from Denzel Washington about Learn, Earn, and Return, and it resonated profoundly with me.
In the early part of my career, I focused on learning. I wasn’t paid what I thought I deserved (don’t we all feel that way? 😁), but that was the time I made mistakes, learned from them, and built the foundation to become truly skilled at what I do.
Then, as I honed my specialised skills, I entered the earning phase. This was when people began recognising my value. They came to me for my expertise, respected my skills, and yes, they treated me better – because now they were learning from me.
But this cycle doesn’t last forever. As my career matured, I started to feel restless and I yearned to seek deeper meaning. That’s when it became time to return. I took what I’ve learned and earned and gave back – to the rakyat, communities, and industries that shaped me.
Where do you think you are in your Learn, Earn, Return journey?
