Oh, I love team building activities! The joy of getting away from my desk, the fellowship with other colleagues esp with those I don’t interact often, the togetherness and of course all the fun that comes with it which creates great memories. I have always been fortunate to work in companies who invest in such events.
In a typical team building activity, employees from different departments are grouped together in a team. It’s always amazing to hear creative and innovative ideas coming from different people. And also very common one person will be elected as a leader and a presenter. I always say that if you want to stand out, this is a great opportunity to volunteer to flex your leadership and presentation skills (though I must say, most of the time we typical Asians are shy to step forward for the role).
My fav team building activity is always this one – Building/Constructing objects from recyclable materials. Yes, I know, it’s super cliche and nothing new. In fact, it’s so common I lost count the number of times I’ve played this one. But what I can say is every single time I did have a great time and learnt new things – every single time.
Aih, now reminiscing, I do miss all these non-virtual team building games. I do hope this whole Covid-19 will come to an end soon so we all can go out and to play again.
