Recently a friend was telling me, he doesn’t pray to his ancestors. He then said, “We respect them while they are still alive.”
I replied, “Well, funerals are always for the living. The dead are dead, they couldn’t be bothered anymore.”
It reminded me the time I told another friend why I wanted to have my funeral while I am still alive. Like, why not?
I will be able to listen to all the nice things people want to say about me in my eulogy. Heck, if I am still able to, I might even want to deliver my own eulogy while saying my last goodbyes to all of you. Pretty cool, don’t you think?
That would be a true farewell party, I reckon.
Well, that is if my death is not a sudden one. But if I do manage to plan that one, do come to my funeral party, k.
Especially you, May Chong (insider joke & knock on wood x3).
