The other day I received another poor feedback from a candidate about our recruiters.
I have been in this business for 18 years. Across the globe, across industries, across organizations, especially agencies, you will always hear about the poor candidate experience with recruiters. Honestly, after so many years, it’s still such a pain to hear such feedback.
So today, I want to appeal to all recruiters out there (including myself), please do our fucking job well. Start with the Basic 101:
- READ all incoming applications.
- REPLY all messages be it emails, text, WhatsApp, Telegram, WeChat etc.
- RETURN all missed calls.
Like I always say, no update is also an update. It’s true we cannot help everybody. Matter of fact is, out of 10 applications, we probably could only place 1. But at the very least, we need to let people know we tried.
Overcommunicating is okay, you know, for communication is key in the people business.
And also always remember, we were once job applicants too. We yearned for the communication the same.
