Yesterday, I received a call from a random mobile number.
The caller said he was from a red bank and would like to verify my information in regards to my loan application to buy a Mercedes for CarGen (https://professionalbimbo.com/2022/05/11/cargen-sdn-bhd/) pictured below.
Then he said, “I am going to send you a WhatsApp message, just reply ‘OK’ to grant consent.” Because their office emails are for internal use only, not meant to send to external parties and they don’t use landlines.
Sound so dodgy, doesn’t it?
But apparently, all very legit. I called the red bank HQ & verified that indeed the caller was from Hire Purchase department. And that he was authorised to call customers and get consent via a mobile number & WhatsApp.
I was telling my biz partner this. He said, “Hmm… scammers and legit flers operate similarly.”
I know, right! Scary dei! Modern times, indeed. I better start catching up wei.
