Young Bosses

I had brief yet interesting conversations with 2 younger managers today separately. Both told me the same thing that they prefer to hire someone who is younger. Why? One, generation gap. Two, the older folks are actually not comfortable reporting to a younger manager.

It did got me thinking. Why did they said that? Poor experience, perhaps.

In the past they did hired the old but the old didn’t gel well with the young. And the older ones did have problems indeed following instructions from the younger leads because they “know it better”.

The first reason I can see the struggle. But the second one? Hmmm…

So I am really curious. Would you prefer your boss to be older or younger? Honestly.
