Every Friday is Date Night and since tonight is date night, I thought I want to look a little cuter than usual to build up the mood – you know, just like how dating was when we were younger. So I chose to wear this bright pink dress and paired it up with cute accessories to match the dress.
As me and my husband were walking to the car this morning, he said nothing. Then when we got into the car, I cannot take it, I wanted to know. I asked, “Why you didn’t say I look cute today?”
Aaahhh… you guessed it right. He said, “You look cute everyday ma…”
I am telling you this story here because it somehow reminded me of how we leaders tend to overlook and take for granted independent performers, assuming that they don’t require as much support or recognition as other employees. Because they are performing everyday ma…
It’s a very common management mistake indeed that we spend too much time managing the bottom 20% because they do take so much of our time micromanaging & supporting them to meet performance expectations. And in the process, we had forgotten that the top 20% still yearn for our attention the same.
Think about it. I am not wrong.
Happy weekend everybody. Sometimes, to teach our long-term partner a little lesson for taking us for granted is also throw them a little tantrum to pace them. Be interesting to see how my husband plan the service recovery tonight haha!
