More than 200 critics on Rotten Tomatoes scored The Super Mario Brothers Movie 59% with an average Rating of 5.7/10. But who cares! The movie as of 23rd April 2023 has grossed more than $800m, returning more than 8 times its budget and became the highest grossing film based on a video game after just one week of release.
When I learnt about that information (after watching the movie), my first thought was, “Oh! It just goes to show that sometimes, success can be unexpected and defy conventional expectations!”
The Super Mario Bros movie may not have been a critical darling, but its box office success speaks volumes.
Like most fans of the video game, I was eager to see all the cute characters come to life on the big screen, despite the movie’s mixed reviews. Sometimes, a movie can become a hit despite its flaws, simply by capturing the hearts and imaginations of audiences.
So, don’t get caught up in chasing perfection. If you’re feeling down about your business/career flaws, take heart. Remember that even a movie about a pair of plumbers battling a giant lizard in an alternate dimension from a 1985 video game can become a box office hit. Who knows, maybe your quirky personality or unusual approach to business will be just what the market is looking for!
