Finally managed to get the report in my hands today. How I read the report in a glance:
Registered Employers: 81.7K
Trainees Trained: 879.2K only out of the 16m workforce
So the average is only around 10 employees per registered company & <6% of our country’s workforce.

The evaluation of the NTI scale of 0 to 1 were ranked into 4 categories: >0.75 Leader; 0.51-0.75 Experienced, 0.26 – 0.50 Adopter, 0.25 & below Beginner.
Malaysia at a national level scored 0.70 (Experienced) with the breakdown of sectors as follow:
Manufacturing – 0.98 (Leader)
Services – 0.85 (Leader)
Mining & Quarrying – 0.77 (Leader)
Agriculture, Forestry & Fishing – 0.48 (Adopter)
Construction – 0.44 (Adopter)
And when you breakdown the sub-sectors within each sector, there aren’t actually many scored >0.75.

Honestly, when I was reading the report, it was kinda’ disturbing. Studies like this glaringly show us that there is much to do. But it’s okay… I have faith that we can fix this. It’s always good to be hopeful, right?
