It was supposed to be a 2-day, 8-hours-per-day temporary job, calling a list of customers to inform them the toy they had ordered was out of stock. My job was ask to them which other toy we had in stock they wanted a replacement. At the end of the first day, I saw there wasn’t much left to call, so I decided to stay back for 2 hours of overtime to finish the calls so I wouldn’t need to come back the next day, which my supervisor was cool about.
And that was the one and only time I claimed overtime pay.
Throughout my career, I’ve always put in a lot of extra hours at work without extra pay. I’ve always believed I should be learning before I start earning. Some of you will call me stupid, which I don’t disagree with.
So today I am curious, in your opinion, do you think I am stupid for not being adamant about claiming overtime?
