Towards the end of year 2021, I was hospitalised for pneumonia. It was a tough time, but I was incredibly fortunate to have the right people around me.
Unlike some of the stories I’ve heard from my followers – colleagues texting them about work while they’re on a hospital bed, or worse, bosses impatiently hounding them to come to work (the nerve!). Not me, though.
I was very fortunate to have a team who was independent. My HODs held the fort without needing constant supervision. They managed everything so I could focus on recovering for three full weeks.
I was very fortunate to have a boss who was not only understanding but supportive. He even issued an order to the management team to leave me alone while I rested.
I was very fortunate to have colleagues who were kind and patient. They waited until I was back at work before bringing anything to my plate. Nobody bombarded me with tasks or demands.
I know not everyone is this lucky, but I just want to remind you that good people exist at the workplace. There are leaders who care, teams who support one another, and colleagues who understand that kindness is as important as competence.
So, be the kind person you want to work with. Build those relationships, and in time, you’ll find yourself surrounded by people who truly care.
Have faith ♥️
