“Please Refer to HR”

Saya nak mencarut ni. HR gets blamed for so many things.

But… here’s the truth.

When an employee isn’t confirmed, or a promotion doesn’t go through, and the response is, “Please refer to HR.”
Really? What exactly are we referring to HR for?

HR’s role is to be the executioner and influencer. We make sure actions align with company policies and comply with labour laws. But let’s be clear – Decisions come from the Bosses. Your Manager. The Head of Department.

If a boss is determined to push for a confirmation, a hiring, a promotion, an increment, or a transfer, HR can advise. But ultimately, HR doesn’t have the final say.

So, let’s stop making HR the scapegoat. Be accountable for your freaking decisions. As leaders, we owe it to our teams to take ownership, not taichi the responsibility to HR. And start owning our leadership responsibilities.

Be the decision-makers we’re supposed to be.

With all my love and support (truly),
