- After You Get the Job Offer
The best time. They’ve picked you so now you have leverage. Negotiate before you sign the offer letter.
🔸 Say: “I’m excited to join the organisation. Can we discuss the offer?” - During Annual Performance Reviews
If your company does performance appraisals, this is when budgets and promotions are discussed.
🔸 Say: “Based on my contributions this year, I’d like to explore a salary adjustment.” - After a Major Win or Added Responsibility
Did you close a big deal? Took over someone’s role? Managed a crisis? Time to ask.
🔸 Say: “Given the expanded scope of my role, I’d like to revisit my compensation.” - Before a Contract Renewal (for Fixed-Term Contracts)
If you’re on contract and it’s up for renewal, negotiate before it gets auto-renewed.
🔸 Say: “Before we renew, I’d appreciate a review of the salary package.”
🎙️ I’m recording a podcast episode this Friday with Victor about SALARY NEGOTIATION.
If you’ve ever had a drama, success story, or even a cringe moment trying to negotiate your salary, share!
Drop your story in the comments. I might just feature it in the next episode of #BebelHR.
Let’s help each other learn the art of asking for what we deserve. 🫶
