POV: The Low Stakes of the Bullshit Table

There’s a special table in every company.

Not the boardroom table.
Not the pantry table.
But the Bullshit Table.

You know the one….

Where people gather to:
☕ Complain about everything but suggest nothing.
😒 Gossip instead of giving feedback.
🙃 Nod in agreement but do the opposite after.
🙄 Act like victims of every decision, but never step up to lead.

Here’s the thing:
The Bullshit Table is very low-stakes.
You risk nothing. You change nothing.
You just sit there… and vent.

And sure, it might feel good for five minutes.
But it builds nothing. Fixes nothing. Moves nothing.

I say this with love because I’ve sat at that table many times too.
Until I realised, if I want things to get better, I need to get up.

💡 Be brave enough to speak up in the right rooms.
💡 Be honest enough to offer solutions, not just sarcasm.
💡 Be kind enough to listen even when we disagree.

So, to all leaders and HR folks reading this…
Let’s create not create more chairs around this Bullshit Table.
Build better rooms instead where feedback is safe, ideas are welcomed, and growth is the main agenda.

Happy weekend, everybody! Remember to raise the stakes – and the standards. 😉

Recovering Bullshit Table Resident

P.S. I was inspired to write this after watching Jimmy Carr explain why he finally chose to have kids. He thought he was being smart by staying kid-free because it was easy – only to realise later, he was just sitting at the low-stakes Bullshit Table.
