I was watching Game of Thrones for the umpteenth time and heard Tyrion Lannister say:
“No one is very happy. Which means it’s a good compromise.”
Ah yes, compromising.
You give up a little.
I give up a little (sometimes a lot).
And we meet somewhere in the middle.
It happens in project meetings, target settings, and in HR policies too.
Nobody gets exactly what they want, but at least we move forward.
And that’s the point.
Progress isn’t about making everyone happy.
It’s about getting everyone aligned enough to move (hopefully harmoniously).
Because insisting of having it our way or the highway just makes us a very lonely driver.
