Did you know, after quiet quitting, there’s now something called quiet cracking?
Yep. Quiet Quitting is old news. Now, there’s Quiet Cracking.
So what is it?
Unlike quiet quitting, quiet cracking is unintentional.
Employees are still doing their jobs, but inside they’re slowly ‘cracking’ from disengagement, unhappiness, and lack of support.
It’s basically a form of burnout.
So what do we do about it?
Employers can…
✅ Create safe channels for employees to speak up.
✅ Invest in upskilling so people don’t feel insecure.
✅ Listen and act! Nothing cracks trust faster than asking for feedback and doing nothing with it!
And for employees… perhaps shake up your routine a little.
✨ Volunteer for a project outside your scope.
✨ Change your desk for a different view.
✨ And please… clear that annual leave of yours to reset.
Cracks may be quiet. But the damage is definitely something we cannot ignore.
Let’s start paying attention before it’s too late.
