Starting October 2025, all migrant workers with valid work passes (domestic workers as defined under Section 2 of the Employment Act 1955 are excluded), including expats, will contribute 2%, of their wages. Employers will also top up another 2%.
If you are a migrant worker, the good news is you will also receive the same EPF dividend that Malaysian employees enjoy. Isn’t that nice?
And when you decide to leave Malaysia permanently, you can apply for a full withdrawal. Think of it as a little savings you can bring home.
Another important point to note, if the employment pass is not renewed. the employer will stop contributing two months before the expiry date. However, if the pass is renewed, contributions will continue as usual.
Now 2% may not seem like much, tbh. But over time, it builds savings and real security.
I believe in EPF.
This is a good move to help reduce wage distortion and align Malaysia with international labour standards. After all, a more equal system protects employees and creates stability for businesses.
So, what do you think about this new EPF initiative? Share your thoughts in the comments and let’s talk about building a better workplace together.
Happy weekend, everybody!
