If you’ve been around the Malaysian F&B scene long enough, you would know David Chin.
A seasoned Malaysian restauranteur, best known as the founder of Dave’s Deli, one of the earlier Western-style casual dining chains in our malls.
I still remember when I first came to study in Subang Jaya more than 25 years ago. My friend brought me to Dave Deli’s at Subang Parade and I was hooked to his Shepherd’s Pie ever since.
This year, Uncle David turns 74.
And he just opened RamenDavid, a ramen spot known for its housemade noodles and deeply flavoured, slow-simmered broths that blend Japanese technique with local flavours.
Honestly, the pricing is memang not cheap, but it was worth every penny. Ooh-lala! Especially the Kaki Shio (Oyster Ramen).
They were so good I eve ordered 2 bowls of ramen!
In his own words, “I still have the urge to burn adrenaline, to keep moving, to keep creating and to keep showing up, despite the tiredness that comes with age.”
I find that incredibly inspiring.
If someone can open a new chapter in his mid-70s, what excuse am I still negotiating with?
