I asked someone today, “Do we want to solve problems, or are we going on a witch hunt?”
I genuinely need to know.
From my twenty years in corporate, I’ve witnessed this many times. When something goes wrong, organisations tend to switch into one of two modes:
🧯 Problem-Solving Mode:
– What happened?
– What failed in the system?
– How do we prevent recurrence?
– Who needs support?
🕯️ Witch-Hunt Mode:
– Who did it?
– Who approved it?
– Who can we blame?
– How fast can we escalate this?
I’ve been on both sides of this fence. One built process maturity and the other one, built fear.
And fear is a terrible long-term strategy. It creates defensive emails, awkward meetings, and people who would rather hide mistakes than fix them.
We say we want leadership maturity, psychological safety, and workforce harmony.
Yet the moment something breaks, we turn accountability into a public execution.
So tell me again.
Are we here to solve problems… or are we going on a witch hunt?
I genuinely need to know.
