There is a Bible verse:
“There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be make known. What you have said in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the roofs.” Luke 12:2-3
What’s done in the dark will always come to light.
It’s just a matter of time.
Don’t get me wrong.
I’m not trying to scare anyone or discourage anyone from lodging a report.
In fact, I encourage you to fight for justice.
But I also want us to be prepared for the reality that follows.
After 20 years in the workforce solutions industry, I’ve seen my fair share of whistleblowing horror stories.
Always have a plan B in case retaliation happens.
I’ve been whistleblown before.
It was one of the worst periods of my career.
And also one of the most humbling experiences.
It pushed me to reflect on myself and become better.
You could call it a wake-up call.
And yes, eventually I found out who the whistleblowers were years later (yes, there were two of them).
One of them I’m still on speaking terms with.
But I will never, ever work with you again.
Whistleblow with your eyes open.
