I know many of you introverts don’t enjoy hearing advice like “network more” or “step out of your comfort zone.”
Those suggestions aren’t wrong, but here are also a few unconventional tricks that are surprisingly effective, even for myself.
1. Be First to Compliment Good Work
Introverts often notice the little details, so use that to your advantage. Instead of waiting for people to notice you, notice them first. Compliment good work, e.g. “I really liked how you handled that client.”
2. Sit Near the Middle
Most introverts hide at the back. The front row feels too exposed. A good compromise is to sit somewhere in the middle where you’ll be visible without feeling like you’re the centre of attention.
3. Speak Second, Not First. Not Last.
Introverts sometimes overthink their answers. A good trick is to speak after the first or second person. Don’t wait until everyone has already formed an opinion. Remember, your idea just has to exist first, doesn’t have to be perfect.
And stop saying “sorry” so much – tiny wording changes make a huge difference in how people perceive your confidence.
The goals is to become memorable through consistency.
While extroverts often make strong first impressions, introverts often leave stronger long-term impressions.
Think about it.
