I want to brag a bit.
In 2003, months before my final-year exams, I had already started looking for a job.
I don’t quite remember how many applications I sent out, but I was shortlisted for 13 interviews.
I received 12 job offers. Don’t quite remember what happened to that one.
Anyway…
I honestly believe this amazing success rate was because I got my elevator pitch right when answering that dreaded opening question in every interview: “Tell me about yourself.”
I remember, I spent nights memorising my elevator pitch word-by-word and rehearsed it until I sounded natural.
Fast forward to today, lately, I’ve been stumbling whenever people ask me to introduce myself because it has been ages since I last went for a job interview.
So I need to start practising again.
This is my elevator pitch:
“Hi, I’m Ku Sim Ling, widely known as AuntyHR on social media. I’m a Malaysian influencer, HR trainer, speaker with more than 20 years of experience in workforce solution and HR, of course, including many years in corporate leadership. I’m also the founder of the Dilarang Bodoh by Bimbo Society campaign. You can find me on social media @professionalbimbo.”
Yours?
