Sexual harassment at work is one of those things we hope we never have to deal with.
When someone (man or woman) comes forward with a complaint, under the Employment Act 1955, employers have a duty to inquire into complaints of sexual harassment.
That doesn’t mean immediately deciding someone is guilty.
It means taking the complaint seriously enough to find out what actually happened.
Listen.
Investigate.
Be fair to everyone involved.
Then make a decision based on the facts.
Sometimes the most important thing HR can give someone is simply the confidence that when they speak up, someone will listen.
Happy weekend, everyone.
May we never be the reason someone is afraid to come to work.
