Even superheroes need help. Let alone leaders.
But in order for people to help us, we must first be able to trust them to help and second, allow them to help.
I remember many years ago, I told my ex-boss that I find it so hard to let go of things for I fear losing control. I tried to do everything on my own, ended up, I burnt out and things went haywire anyways.
Downloading my knowledge. Fostering relationships. Empowering my people to make decisions (singing in my head – “Let it go, let it go…”).
That is what I am focused on right now – Building my team’s Competence so I can Trust.
Everyday I dedicate 1-2 hours of my time coaching different individuals. Then every 2 weeks, I will bring each department together to update each other their individual progress. Every quarter, all departments will then come together for an outing to celebrate.
Always remember, our people are always the priority. Stealing what Simon Sinek said, “A boss has the title, a Leader has the People.”
So leaders, make your people, your superheroes.
