🔊 Updates: Stamp Duty Threshold for Employment Contracts 🇲🇾

In the recent Budget 2026 announcement, the monthly wage threshold for stamp duty exemption on employment contracts is set to increase from RM300 to RM3,000, effective 1 January 2026.

This means that contracts with monthly wages at or below RM3,000 will be exempt from the RM10 stamp duty fee starting 2026.

However, the act of stamping the contract still applies.
Meaning, you still need to submit the contract for stamping.
Only the fee is waived, not the procedure.

For contracts with wages above RM3,000, the RM10 stamp duty still applies. BAU.

A reminder, contracts executed before 1 January 2026 are still subject to the current threshold of RM300 and normal stamping requirements. So always check your contract’s signing date.

Hope this helps and happy stamping!
