I still remember what happened on 18th March, 2020 like it was yesterday.
Two days prior, on the 16th, the government announced Malaysia would go into MCO on 18th March.
We had one day to prepare for our biggest Business Continuity Plan (BCP), getting the entire company to work from home.
At that time, WFH wasn’t even a thing for us.
We didn’t have a policy. We didn’t have a handbook about it. And we definitely didn’t have the experience for a large-scale BCP like this.
But I got lucky.
Our India counterparts had already gone through something similar. So they shared their protocols, structure, and experience with me.
So within that one day, my team and I pulled everything together.
Policies, processes, communication, coordination… ALL built in real time.
And I still remember this very clearly… My boss gave me full credit for leading the execution of our very first nationwide Business Continuity Plan. Till today.
But we all know that success didn’t belong to me alone. 😉
Shortly after, when Indonesia went through the same thing, we became the “experienced ones.”
And I did exactly what India did for us. I shared everything. Materials, processes, best practices.
That’s the part people don’t talk about enough.
The strength of your network is just as important as the strength of your company.
So, find your people… and I have the perfect idea how to do it.
Come join us at E2 HR/IR Conference 2026 happening this coming May 2026.
Because one day, when a crisis comes, it won’t be your policies that save you.
It will be your community.
Happy 6th Year MCO Anniversary, Malaysia!
