Early in my career, I thought working hard was enough.
If I did good work, stayed loyal, and minded my own business, opportunities would naturally come.
Uhm… turns out they didn’t.
So here are a few thing I’ve learned about positioning myself strategically to attract the opportunities I wanted:
🟣 Being good at my job is important, but being a good fit for the organisation matters too.
🔵 Pay attention to which department produce future leaders. Some functions naturally get more visibility than others.
🟢 Never become trapped. Always have a plan B to your plan B. Have an exit plan because not every workplace is worth fixing.
🟡 Understand how decisions actually get made. The organisation chart only tells half the story.
Besides performance, career progression is also about positioning.
Remember, even if you are excellent, you can still get STUCK in the wrong environment.
I’m not wrong.
