This is Shankar.
He is our IT guy. All these years I know him, our conversations are almost always about issues with my laptop. So we don’t know each other that well.
Then one day, he came to my office and sprung me with a big “Thank you, Ling!” I was like for what? “For the bonus,” he said. Then I told him, “You know I sign the letters only, right? It’s your boss who approved the bonus.” He then said, “I know but I still want to thank you.” Then he skipped off merrily.
And that is Shankar.
Always polite and cheerful. Grateful with everything he has. He is also very kind. He shares his wealth with the needy all the time, buying them gifts and food.
During lunch I’ve also learnt he is quite an adventurous one. Before the pandemic, he travelled all over the country impromptu just because he felt like it.
I so admire his humbleness & simpleness. It like how Dale Carnegie said it, “It isn’t what you have or who you are or where you are or what you are doing that makes you happy or unhappy. It is what you think about it.”
